Shameless plug: I attempted to write a book where I could provide a large amount of information and pointers to understanding with enough transparency to let the reader decide whether to accept or reject any point I'd make. If you are looking for a different sort of book (an attempt to provide objective grounding on all statements, unlike Thorsson's work, and an attempt to go well beyond the minimal skeletons, unlike Plowright's work), then I'd recommend reading "The Serpent and the Eagle: An Introduction to the Elder Runic tradition." It's available through major wholesale chains including Ingram, so I'd expect you could order it anywhere.
