totally. I hear you, loud and clear. I have actually been writing mini-poems to go with bind runes that I make, as a means of empowering them. I tried to write in galdralag, but I just can't quite seem to figure it out. But I love alliteration combined with it. But just signing it, even without the guidelines of a prescribed melody, seems to give some extra kick that I just can't seem ... name I guess.

In Old Norse "galdr" means magic song - singing with a magical intent. In plural, "galdrar" means sorcery or witchcraft outright. So in its plural form, it can include rune magic, or any other magical practice prevalent in ancient Scandinavia, such as trance work, which involved singing when performed for a community.
